Sutton Named Pentecostal Theological Seminary Alumnus of the Year

Bishop Brian Sutton, executive director of Leadership Development and Discipleship Ministries for the Church of God of Prophecy, was awarded the Alumnus of the Year Award by the Pentecostal Theological Seminary during commencement exercises held May 26, 2018, at the North Cleveland Church of God.

“At each commencement exercise we recognize an individual who exemplifies the essence of the mission and vision of the Pentecostal Theological Seminary,” said Seminary President Dr. Michael L. Baker. While introducing Bishop Sutton, Baker continued that the Alumnus of the Year Award was presented to Bishop Sutton for “distinguished ministry commitment, exemplary servant leadership in the body of Christ, and faithful support for the Seminary.”

Sutton thanked the Seminary “for investing into my life and the lives of so many more. It’s important that we have examples of denominations working together to accomplish God’s mission, without preoccupation with credit or name.” He continued, “the partnership we have formed between Pentecostal Theological Seminary and the Church of God of Prophecy is a great example of where God is working to make this dream a reality.”

Sutton concluded his comments by expressing his gratitude for the recent, formal partnership of the Pentecostal Theological Seminary and the church when he said, “I so deeply believe in the ministry and value of this Seminary, and its’ impact on the Church of God of Prophecy and service of Christ’s kingdom, that I have worked hard to make certain we could labor together to accomplish God’s plan and mission and equip future Pentecostal leaders and scholars for the work of God. At every opportunity we’ve had to partner together, we’ve been met with open hearts and open arms until denominational lines were so minuscule they seemed to be washed away in the blood.”

The partnership was affirmed by Dr. Baker, as well, when he congratulated Sutton by saying. “You have demonstrated your support diligently and we are so proud of the relationship we have with Church of God of Prophecy. Today we present this award with great joy and say thank you for your commitment.”
